To remember our ancestors is to keep them alive.  Tonight we participate in an ancient rite that has transformed throughout the years, and is both symbolic and touching. 

Gathering your families on our altar tonight marks the beginning of our personal observance during Dia de Muertos.  If you aren´t too shy, we would love you to say a few short words about the person you are honouring, before placing their photograph on the altar.  Guests have traditionally brought small offerings to leave with their photographs, such as a favourite candy or charm.  Some guests have purchased a shot from the bar, to leave for their loved one.  These offerings will be left on the altar until after Dia de Muertos concludes (after November 2), so please do not bring anything valuable, as you will not be able to retrieve your photos or items.   If you are leaving food items, they must be non-parishable and sealed, to avoid attracting insects.

Please Note:  At 5:00 PM, Jaime Hernandez Balderas will present a lecture about the origins of Dia de Muertos.  If you would like to attend the lecture, without dinner, tickets are $300 Pesos, which includes a beverage and lecture.  The lecture will finish at around 6 PM.  We will place photos on the altar following the lecture, before dinner commences.
